Meet APW Members

Hello, this is our "APW Members" page, which is currently in progress. The thought is for members to list info about themselves and their work. Such as a short bio about who they are and what they do, their company/publication/freelance info, link to their website, social media, phone, e-mail, etc.... Also, feel free to send snippets for the Member News section (for online and the newsletter). The goal is a directory with separate pages for each member.
So, if you are a current member and this is appeals to you, you are welcome to send info, suggestions and/or comments to Webmaster.
We think this site will work well for our wonderful members who wish to promote their crafts.

Members: send your info to the Web master!

Rebecca I. Allen
Glendale, Ariz.
A professional journalist with seven years of experience, Rebecca I. Allen has worked as a reporter for weekly and daily newspapers and won several national and state awards for her news reporting and feature writing. She’s the Phoenix stringer for People Magazine and freelances for a variety of print and digital publications.
In 2002 she earned a bachelor’s degree and a professional writing certificate from Arizona State University West, and she’s currently working on a master’s in liberal studies with a focus on non-fiction writing at ASU. A member of the
American Society of Journalists and Authors and  Journalism & Women's Symposium, Allen also serves on the boards of directors for the Arizona Press Club and Arizona First Amendment Coalition.
When she doesn’t have her press badge stuck in a sheriff’s office shredder, and isn’t being chased by a miffed councilwoman, she’s multi-tasking on her laptop from the nearest air-conditioned Wi-Fi hotspot –or at least one with shade.
Find Rebecca at www.rebeccaiallen.com, follow her on Twitter @rebeccallen, find her on Google, or connect with her on LinkedIn or Facebook.

Carol J. La Valley
Sitting beside her grandfather, listening to his deep bass voice read poems such as "The Cremation of Sam McGee," and stories such as The Little Prince, is one of Carol J. La Valley's earliest memories. As a young teenager, she often sat by his side at meetings of the Tempe Poetry Society. He encouraged her to write, although he disdained her early attempts at "mush and slush and stuff."
Two decades saw Carol through a stint as a Gal Friday for lawyers, a massage therapist, a mother and a writer of short fiction the middle of the night.
In 2004, she made a 180-degree career change and became the Payson Roundup Newspaper's features reporter, co-editor of the Roundup's weekly arts and entertainment guide, The Rim Review, then editor of the Rim Country Gazette. She garnered awards at all three publications, including the Outstanding Writing Award by Arizona Newspaper Association in 2007 and 2009.
Ever attracted to people who are passionate about life, La Valley's business (www.talesofalifetime.net) helps clients preserve their legacy with stories and photographs in full color, hard bound books.
La Valley continues to freelance. Science fiction and fantasy engage the wee hours of her night.
